Addon Domain

An addon domain is an additional domain name that you can add to your hosting plan. This domain can be created in your control panel and functions just like a primary domain on your account.

Your addon domain can have forwarders, email addresses, and other features, just like the main (primary) domain on your account.

When you create an addon domain, a folder with the name of the domain will appear in the root directory unless you specify a different folder name or path. A subdomain will also be created and attached to the new folder, allowing you to preview the website via a link such as [addon].4xhost.com.

To add an addon domain:

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Click on Create Domains.
  3. Enter your domain name at the top.
  4. Specify the document root location in the last field.

Important Notes:

  • An addon domain must be registered before users can access it.
  • If the domain resembles an existing domain on your account, the system may recommend creating a subdomain instead. You can access the Subdomains interface by going to cPanel > Home > Domains > Subdomains.

What should you do if you want to create multiple addon domains with different extensions?

To add multiple addon domains with different extensions (like 4xhost.net and 4xhost.com), manually enter a unique username in the Subdomain text box.

The maximum number of addon domains allowed is shown on your cPanel Statistic Sidebar. For Reseller accounts, this limit can be modified by going to WHM > List Account > Modify Account > Max Addon Domains.

If the zone files of the registered domain are incorrect, you may encounter an error that prevents the addition of the domain. You can use the Zone Editor in cPanel to correct any issues by navigating to cPanel > Home > Domains > Zone Editor.

If you need assistance with the zone files, feel free to reach out to our support team.
