Spam Filtering Customisation
Spam Filtering is an easy-to-use email tool providing advanced protection for your email accounts. It examines incoming mail for spam indicators and decides whether an email should be marked as spam.
With the rise in spam, phishing, and other email threats like malware or spoofing, spam filtering has become essential for managing and protecting business emails. Spam filters help stop messages with harmful links, phishing content, and attachments before they reach your inbox.
The Spam Filters tool on 4xhost servers uses a scoring system and plug-ins to detect and block spam. It’s available by default and can be set up through cPanel. Here’s how to enable it:
- Log in to cPanel and go to the Email section.
- Select Spam Filters.
- Toggle Process New Email and Mark them as Spam to enable or disable.
Required Score Settings:
- 0 marks everything as spam.
- 5 (default) marks likely spam.
- 10 lets almost all emails through.
This setup applies to all emails on your account. Spam Filters will mark spam emails, and you can even set it to automatically delete them.
Note: You can also use Spam Box or Email Filtering to move spam emails to a separate folder.
Move Spam to a Separate Folder (Spam Box)
Spam Box creates a folder where emails marked as spam are sent. You can adjust the spam threshold, with 5 as the default spam score.
To empty Spam Box, go to Configure Spam Box Settings and select Empty the Spam Box.
Automatically Delete New Spam (Auto-Delete)
Auto-Delete removes emails that meet or exceed the set spam score. Configure it by turning on the Auto-Delete option, and set the required score.
Advanced Settings
Access advanced options under Additional Configurations.
Whitelist/Blacklist
- Whitelist trusted email addresses or domains so they’re never marked as spam.
- Blacklist email addresses that should always be marked as spam.
To manage these settings, go to Edit Spam Whitelist/Blacklist Settings and add emails under whitelist_from or blacklist_from fields.
Calculated Spam Score Settings
Each email gets a spam score. You can configure these scores in Configure Calculated Spam Score settings for precise control.
Note: Lower scores apply stricter filters.
